Knox’s Bower
The above picture was taken on a recent Camera Club trip to Woodstock Gardens in a small village called Inistioge which is in County Kilkenny, Ireland.
In the grounds of the gardens I found this unusual building which is a remake of the original which dates back to the 1860′s, looking like something from a tropical island it looked out of place with the surrounding victorian gardens, but far more interesting to my eyes.
“Knox’s Bower” or “The Summer House” it is known as, it used to have deer antlers across the top where the bamboo is designed to look like the sun (the screws which held them still in place).
The building had strong sunlight hitting it from the left which made getting a good exposure difficult, a perfect time to test the HDR function of my new Sony SLT-A65.
The camera takes 3 exposures at different levels and makes one image that retains the highlights and brightens the darker areas giving much more pleasing results, I edited it in Lightroom 3 and converted to black and white.

Homepage Design
At the moment I’m trying to design a nice sleek looking homepage with large images that fade from one to the other while the rustyoldtown text and navigation menus stay the same.
As you can see from the images above I’m thinking of changing the screen colour from black to white just to brighten things up a bit, none of this has been coded yet but I’m creating the graphics for the site!
